The Nectarinia Bird Watching Group (KPB) is one of the study groups in the Biology Association under the Biology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta.
September 27-28, 2025, marked the first time the Nectarinia Bird Watching Group traveled to Untung Jawa Island in the Thousand Islands to contribute to the celebration of Bird Migration Day (Hamirung) by conducting bird watching and inaugurating new members. The trip was accompanied by a lecturer, Dr. Priyanti, M.Si., with a total of 25 students.
The trip from Campus 1 of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta began at 6:30 a.m. to Tanjung Pasir Port in Tangerang Regency. The crossing to Untung Jawa Island was made by wooden boat at 10:00 a.m. and arrived at the location at 10:30 a.m., greeted by clear skies and a gentle breeze.

A briefing between administrators, lecturers, and new members was held casually after lunch to mark the start of observation activities in the afternoon. Two groups began their observations at 3:30 p.m. One group observed bird diversity along the coast, while the other group conducted observations around the residential area. Bird observation continued until 5:30 p.m. A total of 12 bird species were observed.
The next day, Sunday, September 28, 2025, at exactly 7:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, all Hamirung participants sailed to Rambut Island. The island is one of Indonesia's bird conservation areas and is therefore uninhabited by humans. The island's dense vegetation provides a place for local and migratory birds to feed, nest, and breed. The observation on the island lasted for approximately three hours. After the bird observation, the inauguration of 14 new members of KPB Nectarinia took place, all of whom are women. The bird diversity on Rambut Island consists of 14 species.
