On Friday, 14 November 2025, the Basic Ecology Field Practicum was conducted at Bogor Botanical Garden for the 2024 cohort (third-semester students) of the Biology Department, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

The field activities carried out included vegetation analysis, profile diagram preparation, bird observation, and behavioural observation of mammals (deer).

Bogor Botanical Garden was chosen as the practicum site because it is one of Indonesia’s key ex-situ conservation areas, making it an ideal learning environment for Basic Ecology practicum activities. This practicum is part of the semester learning plan for the Basic Ecology course. Through this activity, students are expected to perform and understand methods used in vegetation analysis, construct profile diagrams, conduct bird observation techniques, and apply behavioural observation methods for mammals.

It is hoped that this practicum will be beneficial and enrich the knowledge and ecological field skills of Biology students at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
