Data Mining Development of Knowledge-Based Data for Species Literacy in Capsicum spp.: Research Collaboration between BRIN, Telkom University, and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta

The collaboration between researchers from BRIN and Telkom University Bandung with the Biology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has successfully held a joint activity in the form of data mining of potential user responses for the development of knowledge-based data for species literacy of Capsicum spp. which took place at the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta campus on November 17, 2025. During the activity, responses from potential users (in this case, UIN Jakarta students) became empirical data that described the initial level of knowledge about the biodiversity of chili plants (Capsicum spp.).

A total of 53 students who participated in the activity were given the opportunity to access knowledge-based data on chili plants, including morphological data on chili stems, leaves, fruits, flowers, and seeds, packaged in the form of a chili chatbot named Chatsicum. As a chatbot, Chatsicum offers users an interactive and independent way of learning, allowing them to search for information and compare the characteristics of various chili pepper species (Capsicum spp.).

Feedback from respondents in the form of interaction patterns, questions asked, and the level of success of respondents in identifying or understanding the morphological characteristics of Capsicum spp. after using Chatsicum will be further analysed to develop and refine Chatsicum's knowledge-based data so that it can become a more effective educational medium for potential users in recognising several species of chilli plants.
